Some people have different ideas, each having their own viewpoint, on the definition of these two words. To some, the differences are very important. As a general rule the terms are interchangeable. In some cases, naturists might be considered more of a clothing optional group or organization. Nudists might be classified as more of a nudity required group or organization. They are also at times classified by what national organization they are affiliated with. CLOTHING OPTIONAL and CLOTHING FREE NAKED GIRLS
OPTIONAL Clothing optional (CO) sites, or clubs, provide an opportunity for its members to participate in their choice of atmospheres of either full body nudity, but does not as a rule, prohibit clothing. Most clubs that provide a pool or sauna do require nudity in these types of facilities.
FREE A clothing FREE club or site in general, requires at least partial nudity, as long as weather, and or health permits. Most all clothing free clubs do prohibit clothing in the pool, hot tubs, or saunas.
LANDED AND NON-LANDED CLUBS
LANDED Landed clubs own land or property that affords its members a place to enjoy this lifestyle. They may be operated as a profit or nonprofit young family organization. Some landed clubs are, "clothing optional", others are "clothing free" operations.
NON-LANDED Non-landed clubs are groups that provide a forum for their members with the common interest of the naturist/nudist lifestyle. Whether it be at an area landed club, or another haven, they gather to share this common lifestyle. Many of these clubs are non profit, but have a "land fund", which will be used for the purpose of future land purchases.
